Brad Pitt Talks About Why He Decided To Wear A Skirt To The “Bullet Train” Premiere
It’s no longer new to see some men wearing skirts in public. But it was definitely a shocker when actor Brad Pitt appeared at the premiere of his recent movie “Bullet Train” on July 19 wearing a skirt. And now he is sharing why he made that decision.
Pitt recently made headlines after a photo circulated on news and social media platforms showing him wearing a linen skirt. And when asked by Variety why he chose to wear the skirt, Pitt said: “I don’t know! We’re all going to die, so let’s mess it up.”
The Oklahoma native looked great in the outfit at the Berlin premiere of his recent film. He made his way onto the red carpet in a linen suit that had a frayed hem and a pleated design. Pitt wore the skirt with a matching linen jacket, a pink button-down blouse, and Stylmartin boots that highlighted the tattoos on his legs.
While some people complimented Pitt on his fashion statement, others were not so kind in their criticism of him. But these negative comments will not stop the actor from doing what he wants to do.
And during the interview with Variety, Pitt also talked about his latest film “Bullet Train.” The outlet explained that the movie stars Pitt as “a hitman who has to fight his way through a train filled with dangerous killers, played by actors like Bad Bunny, Joey King, Aaron Taylor-Johnson, and Brian Tyree Henry.”
About the stunt work that is definitely something to be looking forward to with this movie, Pitt explained, “I try to get out of it. I love a stuntman. This one was action-comedy, something I’ve never done before. David and I had always been big fans of Jackie Chan. We’d been talking about him for decades. He’s kind of our Buster Keaton. He’s so talented and underrated even. Just to do something in that direction was what was really appealing to me.”
In the movie Bullet Train which comes out on August 5, five killers find out that they are all tasked with doing the same thing while they are on a bullet train. In addition to Pitt, the movie also stars Joey King, Sandra Bullock, and Brian Tyree Henry.
This is not the first time though that Pitt commented on men wearing skirts. Back in 2004, while promoting his film “Troy,” Pitt explained, “Men will be wearing skirts by next summer. That’s my prediction and proclamation. The film answers to both genders. We were going for realism and Greeks wore skirts all the time then.”
Pitt has even said in the past that he wants to wear clothes that don’t limit him to one gender. When he was posing for a 1999 issue of Rolling Stone, he did put on a few dresses.
Pitt isn’t the only male celebrity trying to break down gender barriers in the fashion industry. LGBTQ individuals have been wearing clothes that don’t match their gender for decades, but it’s only been in the mainstream for a few years. And recently it has been becoming more and more common on celebrity red carpets and at other high-profile events. Some famous people who have helped make genderless clothing popular are Jared Leto, Kid Cudi, and Harry Styles.
