Cher Says She Will Never Let Her Hair Go Gray

One of the benefits of aging for those with dark-colored hair is that you will never have to dye it to a lighter shade anymore. As we age, our hair will naturally begin to turn white. And when you have a head full of white hair, it will give out a grayish color which really looks good on a lot of women.

Back in the day, many women and men were ashamed of their gray hair. That is why they have dyed back to their natural hair color. But these days, more and more individuals, especially women are embracing their natural gray hair color. They no longer hide behind fake hair dyes. In fact, even celebrities like Jane Fonda and Andie Macdowell are proud of their gray hair.

Not Cher though. She vows to never let her hair go gray…

Cher, at 75 years old, told PEOPLE in an interview that nobody will ever find a strand of grey hair on her head. She said, “[Going gray] is fine for other girls. I’m just not doing it!”

Cher isn’t afraid to experiment with her appearance. Her natural hair color and style is black and straight, she has also tried various haircuts and colors. At times, she also enjoys wearing wigs for a change. In a separate interview with The Daily Mail, the singer/actress shared, “There’s nothing wrong with my hair, but I love wigs, and always have. They are so low maintenance. It just makes it easier to change my image.”

In fact if you check out her photos online, you will see how her hair style has changed over the years. She is constantly photographed and she is not hesitant to flaunt her looks. She said, “I don’t think there was a moment that I stepped outside of my house where I didn’t have a picture taken of me. It comes in handy now. But I liked all [my looks], really. And I made some [decisions] that were ridiculous, but I don’t care.”

Cher has made it clear though that even though she has tried different styles and colors, gray is not just her thing. She’s never learned to love it no matter how much she tries. She would probably prefer to color her hair pink rather than allow her hair to turn gray. But this does not mean that she dislikes others with gray hair. It’s just that she’s not a fan of the color herself.

Since she’s already in her mid 70s, Cher is not worried about her hair. In fact, she’s more dedicated to spending more time on skincare over hair care.

Back in 2017, Cher shared a few of her favorite products with PEOPLE, and people are rushing to stores to try and get their hands on these products before they run out of stock. Cher shared her beauty product secrets and this included Dr. Barbara Sturm’s eye cream and face wash, Jan Marini products and the Proactiv skincare line.

However, she says that she’s always changing it up and trying something new. She shared, “My skincare routine is very eclectic. I don’t stick to one particular product, I just have things that I love from different people.”

How about you? If the time comes, would you be ready to embrace your gray hair too? Or are you like Cher that would prefer other colors instead?
