Christmas Tree Farm Goes Full-On ‘Magic Mike’ And Now Their Video Goes Viral
Who says work can’t be fun? Well, this tree farm in Utah is turning the Christmas magic that they’re offering into something that looks like a scene from the movie “Magic Mike” with their sassy viral video.
The video shows these men doing the sexy dance as the camera focuses on each one of them. The viral TikTok video is captioned: “It’s almost time to come to elk ridge Utah to get your Christmas tree from Peterson trees.” The video was also shared by news channels on YouTube and it surely became a huge hit.
Derek Peterson, owner of Peterson Tree Care in Elk Ridge said, “I happen to just be driving down the road and that song came on and I thought, we oughta do a dance to that.”
Peterson also explains that at first, his workers weren’t really into it during the rehearsals and he was surprised that one pulled off some pole-dancer moves.
He said, “It was kind of that moment we knew we had something special.”
According to Peterson, they originally recorded the video last year and posted it to Facebook and Instagram to celebrate their success in selling all of their trees in just 11 days. That clip received a few thousand views at the time. And now that the Christmas season is just around the corner, the video is once again circling the internet. And to their surprise, it’s going viral on TikTok. There are two versions of the video on TikTok that have received more than 3 million combined views just before the November 22 tree lot opening.
Christmas has been difficult for everyone since last year because of the coronavirus pandemic. Celebrations have been limited. And this year, there have been rumors that there is a possible shortage of Christmas trees.
In fact, CNBC reported that Christmas tree vendors this year say that they will have fewer trees available for sale this holiday season because of the supply chain troubles and climate change. And according to the sellers, the shortage in supply compared to the expected demand will affect the markets for both natural and artificial trees.
Chris Butler, the CEO of National Tree Company, a top importer and wholesaler of artificial Christmas trees and holiday decorations says, “The demand this year is going to be extremely strong and so I think from a consumer perspective people definitely shouldn’t wait.”
He adds, “Consumers should buy now because, by the time we get to Thanksgiving, which is a peak week for us, I think there’s going to be a lot of empty shelves. We’re seeing pretty strong growth right now already versus last year and so, I do think that we’re in for a big, big season this year.”
But there are others in this industry that said that’s not quite the case.
In an interview last month with Huff Post, Tim O’Connor, the executive director of the National Christmas Tree Association said, “We’ve never run out of Christmas trees in the U.S. The supply of trees has become tighter though.”
Growers are producing fewer trees every year because some lots may sell out earlier than usual. But there is no doubt that they would be enough for everybody this year.
