Diner Adds “Stupid Question” On Menu And Charges 38 Cents For It, Refuse To Apologize

It cannot be denied that there are people who ask ‘stupid questions.’ And in a restaurant, this sometimes happens and it’s wasting the servers’ time. That is why one restaurant decided to put a stop to it by adding charges for such nonsense questions.

Tom’s Diner in Denver is a family-owned business. It is a 24-hour restaurant and has always been the locals’ favorite since it opened back in 1999. But aside from the locals, tourists have also been visiting the diner to enjoy the amazing food and ambiance that they offer. And with that, servers have to deal with impossible diners with questions that are only wasting so much of their time.

A Reddit user stumbled upon this place and to their surprise, got charged for asking a ‘stupid question.’ It didn’t take long for the Reddit post to go viral!

Dining at Tom’s diner is not for you if you know that you can get easily offended. Some people think that this is plain cruel. This addition to the menu is not new for this restaurant. In fact, the entire thing started 20 years ago. According to the general manager, Hunter Landry, “It’s meant to be playful. It’s good to keep things light in today’s world. When we have a good fun table that engages with us or when they ask about the charge, it’s always fun to add it on.”

Hunter Landry, is the nephew of Tom Messina, the owner of Tom’s Diner. He added that Tom himself added this item on the menu to put more fun into everyday life at the restaurant.

Other than being charged for the ‘stupid question,’ the diner has also added something more, like “Skip your next meal” specifically intended for those who want something healthy. The price for it was “Money well saved” while “Walk home” was Priceless.

According to the staff, it seemed like the menu only made diners want to ask silly questions, such as “Are there any dues for the turkey club sandwich?” or “Does the ice have any water in it?”

What Tom had in mind when adding these to the menu has definitely been proven true because the manager and the staff noticed that many of their customers are willing to be goofy and playful. And because of that, they are thinking of adding more items on the menu, like, “Don’t Take Yourself So Seriously” and “Love Each Other.”

So when the Reddit user shared the receipt of the charge for her ‘stupid question,’ this even made the restaurant more famous all across the globe!

However, it’s old and the manager explained that the prices changed over the last few years.

So when you are in the Denver area, you can’t afford to skip Tom’s diner. You might also want to ask some suspicious questions because we all believe that a good meal is more than just tasty food. You don’t really have to pay 38 cents for your stupid question, but maybe, it should be mandatory.

You have to understand that in this world where people feel more entitled to speak out and be rude and condescending at times, working in customer service and serving all these Karens is a total nightmare. Who knows, this would make our lives way more manageable.
