Her Fans Love Her As The Little Girl On “Bewitched” But Here’s What She Looks Like Now
Ask your mom or grandma about “Bewitched” and for sure they will be able to tell you something about it. This was one of the most popular television sitcoms in the 60s. It made millions of people await every episode every week. And some of the most loved characters are the twins, Erin and Diane, who played Tabitha Stephens.
When they were cast to play the daughter of Elizabeth Montgomery and Dick York on the show, Erin and Diane Murphy were just toddlers. Erin became the main actress to play Tabitha, while her sister Diane was far shyer. The twins said that they had fond memories of their early years while being on the shows’ set.
Even up to this day, they can still remember their on-screen parents saying that they were really like their real parents.
Erin who is now 54-years-old said, “I always called her ‘Mantha Mommy, because I couldn’t say Samantha, and I called Dick Sargent, Darren Daddy. And I think it’s because we spent 12 hours a day together growing up. I looked to her as a parent, and she would tell me what to do like a parent. In a lot of ways I’m so much [more] like her than I am my own mom, which is hilarious.” She added, “From the time I was a baby, I love it. I liked the lights and loved being on my set. My sister used to cry when they would bring her on set. Even now she hates it.”
Although many child stars did not have a good life after, the twins managed to avoid following the same path. The fraternal twins were able to end up becoming well-rounded adults leading their own successful careers in the entertainment industry.
When Bewitched was canceled in 1972, Erins’ parents saw that their daughter still wanted to act. So she did. She appeared in more than 100 commercials as a child actress. Despite her very successful acting career, her parents wanted her to have a normal life. When she was 15-years-old, they made her stop acting temporarily as the family moved to Orange County. This is where Erin was able to live a typical high school experience.
But it seemed like she could not escape the limelight. She became a cheerleader and the Homecoming Queen. Erin said, “I think I kind of had the best of both worlds.”
In the 1900s up to the 2000s, Erin half-heartedly continued to pursue her acting career. But her main focus then was to raise her six children. And now that her kids are all grown up, this proud mom feels that it is time to go back to what she loved doing once upon a time. Once again, she is going back to full-time acting!
In fact, she recently appeared in the television show, “Life Interrupted,” a film about former child stars. Other than that, she also has a number of other projects that she is excited to be doing in the future.
It is good to see that Erin is doing really well. Even though she took a long break from acting, she cannot deny that this is her calling. Her fans will surely continue to keep an eye for her on television, and hopefully, the big screens soon.
