Some people loved putting stickers on their car. But this though put this man in trouble.

23-year-old Dillon Webb was arrested after he refused to remove a crude sticker from his truck. He was asked to remove it because it was violating the obscenity law of Florida. He was asked nicely to take it down to avoid offending other drivers when he is down the Florida roads.

But instead of obliging, Webb did not listen. He refused to take off the offensive sticker. He thinks that it is his First Amendment right to have a sticker at the back of his truck that reads: “I eat a**”

The Sheriff’s deputy noticed his offensive sticker. He was pulled over in Lake City and was asked to remove it. When the officer asked him to do that, he refused to follow and said “they’re just words” and that there’s no way because he just paid $35 to get it done. According to Webb, it seemed like the deputy was already angry from the beginning and for him, the officer was just looking for a reason to get upset with him.

Webb said, “Like the whole time, he was just really rude. It just felt to me like his goal was to get me in jail.”

So he was arrested and charged with misdemeanor counts of violating Florida’s obscenity law. According to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office, he resisted an officer without violence. He was so proud of his sticker and he refused to remove it from his truck window. This is why it all went down to him getting handcuffed and brought down to the police station.

According to the deputy, he did not understand how a parent would be able to explain the meaning of those words. But since it was plastered right at the back of Webbs’ truck in bold, All-Caps letters, then they would have no choice but to explain it or just try to ignore their kids’ questions. But Webb did not care that he would offend any parent and ruin the innocence of these children. He also thinks that what the sticker says would be damaging to any child.

He explained, “I’ve had parents drive by me with their kids taking pictures. They point and laugh and giggle, and they go about their day.” Webb further explained that the sticker was meant to be a joke. He added, “I guess this cop just didn’t find it funny, and he just thought he has to put me in jail.”

Since he was arrested, Webb plans to fight the arrest and claimed that it was wrong for the officer to do that. He claimed, “I’m tired of police forces thinking they are above the Constitution, the Bill of Rights.” He only had the sticker for less than a week and he already had a lot of experience with it. But it seems like the Florida deputies, they would not let him go away with it.

The ACLU of Florida already sent a letter to the Sheriff’s office to defend Webb’s “speech that is already protected by the First Amendment.”
