Man Turns This $16,000 Home Depot Shed Into A Beautiful Tiny Home
Not everyone dreams of owning a big home. Some find it too expensive and possibly challenging to maintain. Also, building one from scratch is not going to be cheap as well. You will need to employ an engineer, an architect, and people from the construction. It’s not only going to be expensive but also takes a long time to finish.
If this is not an option for you, why not just head on down to Home Depot and buy one of their DIY tiny homes?
All you need is to find a location to assemble it, order one, then set it up. With a little decoration, you can turn it into a beautiful tiny home.
“Tuff Shed”
That’s what Home Depot calls this tiny home. There are different types of small houses in the market these days, but this one from Home Depot stands out for its attractive wooden front deck.
Home Depot describes this tiny home:
“Tuff Shed is a true American original, beginning in the west in 1981 with one man’s dream of designing, fabricating, and installing quality backyard buildings for customers. 40 years later, Tuff Shed is an industry leader, now serving customers throughout all of the lower 48 contiguous United States.”
A variety of designs are available through Tuff Shed’s partnership with Home Depot. Small-space dwellers will be interested to have this model. Yes, it’s small if you look at it from the outside, but don’t be fooled because they have everything that you will need and they’re built to last.
In fact, it’s fully customizable because if you want to give it a custom look, you can paint or decorate it as you see fit. Potential owners are greeted by a metal door and a bare wooden floor. As long as you’re happy with the foundation, you can do whatever you want with the interior and exterior of the home.
This small house has an eight-foot ceiling too so no worries if you have tall visitors who want to come over. Just arrange the furniture so that the kitchen and living room are open, and you should be good to go. These little homes are tough enough to withstand a bit of rain and the elements. There are two windows on the opposite ends of the second floor as well for better ventilation. However, it’s best to insulate your home as well in colder places.
Also, ordering one is not a hassle. Delivery and on-site installation are available at a price tag of $16,007.
A guy who helped build these tiny homes recommends this too. He says, “I used to be the lead wall fabricator at the tuff shed fab shop in Pittsburgh. I loved building those things. Is a very efficient setup operation. We fabricated the walls at the shop and cut all the ply for the floors and roofs and had everything set as a lot for the builders.”
He adds, “We even built all our own trusses and certain styles of doors at the shop. Built just like a house with 16 or 24 on center depending on the level of shed you purchased. Steel C channel runners for the floors, 3/4 tongue and groove ply for the floors, 1/2 ply for the roofs. That was 15 years ago. I still have a tuff shed door as my basement entry (bilco style).”
If you are looking to have a tiny home that you can perch up in your backyard, then the Tuff Shed is perfect for you. Because everything is getting so pricey these days, these compact homes may be the best option for you.
