McDonald’s Starts Hilarious ‘sign War’ In Community And People Can’t Get Enough Of It

Have you ever heard of a “sign war?” This is apparently becoming a thing between two fast food chains in a Missouri town. Having a quiet war using words is definitely a great way of getting your message across to your competition in the industry.

‘Roasting’ is when one has great mic skills. Having the ability to roast your competition using your wittiest comments is great entertainment. That is why businesses in a Missouri town understand this so they got to roasting each other in a road sign war. And people can’t get enough of the comebacks that they have against each other. This has quickly reached the internet and they are going viral.

A McDonald’s branch in Marshfield, Missouri fired the first shot. It put up a sign challenging DQ. Their sign says:

“Hey DQ! Do you wanna have a sign war?”

And of course, the nearby Dairy Queen never backs down. They quickly accepted their competitor’s challenge. They made it known with this response:

“We would but we’re 2 busy making ice cream.”

McDonald’s was quick to fire back. They responded…

“That’s cute, our ice cream makes itself.”

Everyone knows that there is this joke spreading all across the globe that the McFlurry machines of Mcdonald’s are oftentimes out of service. So DQ turned the roasting up a notch. The next day they posted:

“You mean it actually works…. Shocker.”

Of course, McDonald’s will not let this snide comment pass. They posted:

“Wow, salty… Like our world-famous fries.”

And this went on for a while until the other smaller businesses in the area soon got involved. They added their own twist on the already hilarious exchange between these two.

A local bank, Arvest, also put up their own sign, butting into the exchange. They wrote:

“Ice cream machine broken? We have a loan for that.”

The Marshfield Area Chamber Of Commerce posted this hilarious yet witty road sign exchange on their Facebook page. The internet was able to get a glimpse and digitally experience the sign war that’s been going on in Missouri.

Randy Bryant, the local director of operations at McDonald’s, shared how this all started. He told Ozarks First, “Marshfield is such a close community, we’re all like family here. Mario on our team had a great idea to get this all started! He said, ‘It’s hot, the world is throwing everyone challenges and negativity,’ so we all found a way to laugh and have fun as a community. And what’s better than an old fashion sign war?”

Well, this surely brought entertainment to the community while enjoying the perks of free marketing as well as these chains are now going viral online. People are now flocking to Missouri to personally witness this sign war.

And all this effortless marketing works best for these businesses because not one of them had to shell out a huge amount of money for a commercial shoot or a social media post to promote their brand. They made use of the old-fashioned road signs that everyone could see. And now they have reached the internet too.

People often underestimate the power of words. But words are very powerful. But they should be used cautiously because they can either be good or bad for the business.
