After Nearly 70 Years, Twin Brothers Separated At Birth Finally Reunite!

Twin brothers born in 1946 never met each other after their mother gave birth to them. Their mother, Elizabeth, a Polish Catholic, was released from a labor camp at the close of World War II and reunited with her family in Germany. Because she fell ill shortly after giving birth, she was unable to care for her children. She was forced to place them for adoption.

The boys were later transported to Poland, where they were adopted by different families. They were named Lucian and George.

While living in Poland, Lucian was unaware of his adoption until he was called up for military service, which must have been a double blow to his already fragile psyche. George on the other hand, discovered his adoption documents when he was 17 years old, and it was then that he discovered he had a twin brother.

In the 1960s, George requested assistance from the Red Cross in order to locate his twin, but his efforts were fruitless. He said, “All my life, I just want to know my family. For 70 years, I was living without knowing things and was thinking I’m never going to find him.”

At the age of 60, Lucian discovered the existence of his identical twin. Interestingly enough, Lucian went out to the Red Cross, which was able to find George. He said, “I don’t care about winning the lottery. I just want to have my brother by my side.” George, on the other hand, had no idea that his brother was still alive until he discovered that not only was he alive, but that he also desired to meet with him!

The two brothers finally reconnected at Warsaw Airport in Poland, 68 years after their separation. They were already 69 years old.

George said, “I never knew when this day was going to happen — was thinking one day I’ll find my brother. I couldn’t wait to hug him and give him a big kiss.”

Before they reached each other, the two gentlemen both had tears in their eyes. George expressed his hope that this would be the beginning of a really close relationship. Lucian arrived with the largest bouquet of flowers he was physically capable of carrying. Upon their reunion, the men held each other and wept, kissed each other on the cheek, and rubbed their heads together. Their wives also joined them in their embrace.

Lucian said, “My heart is overflowing with joy to welcome you back to Polish soil.”

Thankfully, this emotional reunion was caught on video and ended up going viral. The BBC’s video of their homecoming was viewed over 9 million times.

In addition to helping the twins find each other, the Red Cross was also able to gather some information about their biological parents.

According to reports, their father was an American soldier who served in the Middle East and returned to the United States before they were born. Their mother on the other hand had attempted to find them but had been denied access to information regarding their whereabouts.

Following their reunion at the airport, the brothers paid a visit to the Warsaw Uprising Museum. The two gentlemen intend to spend a great deal more time together in the future. There is no doubt that this is going to be the start of a wonderful relationship, to catch up on those decades that they missed.
