This place is known for its long, harsh winters. People here are prepared for the worst during these months. Because if you aren’t, it can cost you your life. The temperature averages well below the freezing point all throughout the winter months and well into April. They say you are lucky to survive the outdoors during these extreme weather conditions.

In the eastern part of Russia is where the Ural mountains are located. This is where you can find a vast landscape of Siberia. This place has breathtaking beauty, but can also be ruthless during wintertime. It can be a very dangerous place to be if you are not prepared. The frigid winds tear through the air and the land is covered in snow. Residents here say that “cold” is an understatement because Siberia is “freezing” during these months.

This is why when people noticed a freezing dog outside, they knew what they should expect. However, when they approached the poor pooch, they realized that the dog was actually trying to help someone. The dog was protecting under its body a two-year-old boy.

This boy had been abandoned by his mother on an unheated porch of a cabin in the freezing temperatures for two days. In most cases, no one would be able to survive. That night, the temperatures dropped to -12 degrees Celsius or 10 degrees Fahrenheit. Thankfully, this dog acted as its guardian angel and looked out for the boy who remained to be unnamed.

The pooch was living in this cabin where the boy was abandoned by his mother. It seems like the dog knew that the toddler needed help. This is when the dogs’ instincts kicked in. the dog probably did everything that it could to help the boy survive, until the neighbors found them.

When the neighbors found the dog, it was curled up on the porch. So they checked on him. But when they looked closely, they noticed that it was wrapping its body all over and around the child to help keep him warm using his body heat. These people were horrified just thinking about the dog being left alone in this weather. But when they saw the boy, they were speechless.

They immediately sprang into action to help both the dog and the kid. Thanks to the dog, the boy was able to survive for two days in the elements.

However, since the dog was left alone with no food, water, or anything to keep his body warm, he was in very bad shape. He had acute hypothermia despite the dogs’ efforts to protect him. But if not for this heroic pooch, the boy would not have survived alone. According to the reports, the boy would recover and survive. The mom was located and was charged with child neglect. The dog also ended up surviving.

There is a reason why dogs are called “Man’s Best Friend.” They are loyal to their owners all throughout their lives. This story has proven how loyal our dogs can be. They would risk their lives just to protect their owners.
