Newborn Puppies Abandoned On the Side of the Road Inside A Bag Along With A Note

When mama dogs give birth, sometimes they don’t survive. It can be due to a lot of reasons. So if you happen to be the owner of the pooch that has just given birth, what do you think would be the best to do with the pups that the dog left in her passing? Sadly for these pups, they were left on the side of the road.

A couple of newborn puppies were abandoned inside a bag on the side of the road with only a note. The note reads: “No time take care my dogs their mom is dead.”

Someone thought that this was the best way to get rid of these pups. It was clear that the previous owner was just looking for the easy way out. But these puppies were far too young to fend for themselves. They needed their mom or someone who can take care of them until they are old enough.

Thankfully, a good Samaritan noticed the pups. He pulled over and decided to take them in. He took them home to be fed and provided with a warm and safe place to rest. He knew that the pups will not be able to survive on their own on the side of the road.

The puppies are in good hands now, but we know that if he didn’t stop, the situation could’ve ended very differently for these poor babies.

If you come across a litter of puppies or kittens that have clearly been dumped by an irresponsible pet owner, what is the best thing to do?

First, you have to make sure to contact your local shelter right away. But if it’s after hours or the shelters do not have the capacity to care for the litter, you may choose to take them in. but before you do so, here are the proper steps to follow:

It is possible that when you found the puppies or kittens, their mother was out searching for food. But if you come across feral or homeless cats, it is best to stay far from the kittens and wait to see if the mother cat returns. Healthy kittens can survive as long as they are in a warm and safe space. And if the mother comes back, you can provide food to help feed the mother cat or dog. It is best to take the mama dog and her litter to an animal shelter. Contact your local animal control or shelters that can help.

If the litter’s mother has been injured or has not returned, the puppies or kittens will need to be bottle-fed until they are weaned. If you can take them home with you, then do so. But if not, then contact your local shelters to see if they can take in a litter of newborns. You may be advised to take on the responsibility of taking care of the litter if they do not have the staff or capacity to do so.

You have to remember that puppies and kittens under six weeks old that do not have a mother need special care and attention.

First, they need warmth and shelter. Puppies and kittens this young cannot withstand cold temperatures for a very long time. That is why you need to get them inside a warm home and wrap them in blankets. You can also wrap a hot water bottle in a blanket as a source of heat if necessary.

And as soon as you can, get them checked by a veterinarian. Puppies and kittens cannot fight off illnesses like an adult dog or cat. You have to ensure that they are free of illness or injury. Your veterinarian can provide advice on how to feed and care for the litter based on their estimated age.
