No matter what situation you find yourself in, you should always learn to be happy and maintain positivity even when it looks like things are not going your way. God is always looking out for every one of us and even in difficult times, there is always a God-sent helper waiting right by the corner to watch over us and rescue us from unpalatable situations.

To an ordinary person who saw Gabe Adams when he was just a little baby, it is easy to conclude that things might not turn out pretty for him. Life is hard even for those with full body parts, to be born without arms and legs is something some people might consider as a sentence to a horrible life. This was probably what Gabe’s birth mother thought that made her abandon him in a Brazilian orphanage. The future was indeed looking bleak, but God had a plan for Gabe and just in time Janelle Adams heard about the little boy and decided to adopt him.

Janelle Adams who had already given birth to 13 children of her own most of them grown already knew taking care of Gabe wouldn’t be an easy task. This wasn’t an ordinary baby, there was a very big chance that the child would always be a dependent all his life. But once Janelle heard about the boy, she just found it impossible to look away. In her words, “I kept thinking about this baby far away in a hospital with no arms and no legs – I couldn’t get him out of my mind. I kept wondering, ‘How would I feed him? How would I dress him? How would we teach him to walk?'”

Against all odds, Janelle Adams took Gabe in and accepted him into her family. It was indeed a challenge initially but the love and affection she had for the little boy were enough to nurture him into a fully independent happy adult. Janelle and her husband Ron and the rest of the family moved to Utah after adopting Gabe. The whole family supported and encouraged Gabe teaching him to read, write, climb the stairs and do pretty much everything a kid would do by himself. They made him feel loved and accepted by their happy family.

Now, several years down the lane, Gabe is a happy young man who has been able to overcome a lot of obstacles and remain happy and positive thanks to the support of his family. He is able to do everything on his own and enjoy freedom and happiness like everyone else around him thus. Although living life in his condition without limbs isn’t an easy task and waking up each day comes with a lot of challenges many of us don’t get to face daily. Gabe is still able to incredibly maintain a positive outlook and keep a smile on his face. Now a teenager, he attends school just like everyone his age and is able to keep up with them.

Gabe’s story is truly a remarkable one that clearly shows that no matter what hope is never lost. Janelle Adams Gabe’s mother hopes that her story inspires many others to love and accept special children like Gabe. We hope it does too.
