Pilot Identifies Soldier On A Plane From An Unforgettable Incident 10 Years Ago

The people we would typically pass by in the present might have been the ones who saved our lives at some point in the past. This is exactly what this man realized the moment he met the plane’s pilot.

While traveling on a plane to a fundraising training session with his previous company, one soldier came to this realization. His jet was being boarded when the pilot approached him and revealed that he was one of the passengers that have been saved by the pilot many years ago.

Back in 2010, Corporal Todd Love lost the lower half of his body when he stepped on an IED. A year had passed since he arrived in Afghanistan as a Recon Marine and then he was serving with his unit there when this happened. He was assigned to the 1st Recon Battalion. Right after the incident, he was airlifted to safety not knowing if he would survive his injuries. It was such a frightening experience.

Thankfully, a pilot was able to save him and his companions and got them out of the battle zone alive.

Todd found himself in Bagram, Afghanistan when he woke up. Although he still required extensive rest and recuperation, he had made a full recovery after a series of grueling surgeries.

Even though Todd had many challenges in his life, his education, upbringing, and the love and support of those closest to him allowed him to persevere in spite of everything that had occurred to him.

In an independent publication, Todd wrote: “I think my gratitude for everything is what calmed my suffering the most.”

When he returned to the United States, he didn’t even dare look down to see his bottom half. In spite of his apprehension, he was eventually able to accept his situation.

After nine years, Todd was able to go on a variety of trips across the United States. When the accident happened, he used it as an opportunity to improve himself. Also, he added that sharing his experience with others has made things easier for him. Suddenly, he understood that he was alive because of his own determination, as well as the support of those around him.

He further wrote in a media outlet: “It’s humbling to know that these people are from many walks of life, each practicing their profession, from different nationalities, skin tones, and belief systems as well. All I know is I owe them my life.”

One day he was flying to Oregon for fundraising training up a mountain. At a layover in Denver, he was confused when the pilot of a commercial flight approached him. The pilot inquired as to whether or not Todd had served in Afghanistan and at what point in his career. In spite of his skepticism, Todd answered the pilot’s questions.

Captain Vincequere explained that he was the US Air Force pilot that rescued Todd from that intense battlefield on his helicopter!

Todd’s jaw dropped and he was speechless. He couldn’t believe that the person in front of him, the pilot of the plane he was taking, was actually the one responsible that he is alive today. They had a wonderful and surreal reunion. They took a picture together to remember this moment.
