Rod Stewart Pleads Guilty

Both Rod Stewart and Son, Sean Stewart, Plead Guilty To New Year’s Eve Misdemeanor Charges
The Associated Press reported that both Rod Stewart and his son Sean Stewart have entered guilty pleas to the charge of misdemeanor simple battery. The complaint relates to an incident that took place on New Year’s Eve 2019 in the state of Florida.
Do you remember when this case first appeared in 2019? That time, reports say that after reportedly hitting a security officer during a New Year’s Eve party at a Florida resort, Rod Stewart will be charged with a misdemeanor count of simple battery and will have to appear in court.
Due to the measures that the Stewarts took for their case, they will not be required to pay any fines, serve any time in jail, or follow any terms of probation. In fact, they won’t even be required to appear in court at all.
Guy Fronstin, the Stewarts’ lawyer said in a statement, “Sir Rod Stewart was charged with simple battery. No one was injured in the incident and a jury did not find Sir Rod Stewart guilty of the accusation. Instead, Sir Rod Stewart decided to enter a plea to avoid the inconvenience and unnecessary burden on the court and the public that a high profile proceeding would cause. In resolving the case, Sir Rod Stewart was not convicted, nor sentenced to jail, or placed on probation.”
Following the incident that took place on New Year’s Eve at the Breakers in Palm Beach, Florida, the singer, who is 77 years old, as well as his eldest son Sean Stewart, 41, were both ordered to appear at the Palm Beach County Criminal Justice Complex on February 5th.
However, neither was arrested for their involvement in the incident…
So what really happened that led them to be charged with misdemeanor?
According to a police report that was obtained by People, Stewart and his friends sought to bring their children into a kids’ area on the premises of the Breakers. However, security guard Jessie Dixon did not allow them admission to the area.
Reportedly, Rod Stewart then “began to get loud and cause a scene, and refused to follow [Dixon’s] instructions to leave,” with Sean Stewart allegedly going “about nose to nose” with the guard.
There were witnesses who told the police that Sean Stewart then pushed Dixon while Rod punched the security guard in the ribs. There was also security video footage that confirmed to authorities that the Stewarts were indeed the “primary aggressors” during this incident.
The police also noted that following the altercation, Rod Stewart “apologized for his behavior in the incident.” However, Dixon said that he wanted to pursue charges against the Stewarts. A source also told People that “It was a brief misunderstanding and neither Rod nor Sean were detained. Apologies were exchanged and there were no injuries.”
Rod Stewart is a pillar of the music industry. In 1994 and 2012, he and the members of his 1970s rock band Faces were inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame together with other rock legends. Some of his well known hits were “Da Ya Think I’m Sexy,” “You’re In My Heart,” “Hot Legs,” and “Maggie May.”
As a part-time resident of Palm Beach, the singer was quarantined with his family during the early stages of the pandemic in 2020.
