School Kicked Teen Out Of Prom Because Dad’s Couldn’t Stop Staring At Her Dress
Clare, a Virginia home-schooled girl, recently spoke out of how she was kicked out of prom because some dads were lusting over her.
Hanna Ettinger posted a blog on Wine and Marble, and she happens to be the sister to Clare. The 17-year old home-schooled girl vividly recounted of the events of that night on the blog.
Clare had chosen a cute dress for the night, and her boyfriend had bought the tickets in advance. She was over excited and could barely wait for the night to come, and it finally did.
The home-school association had put in place dressing code that had to be adhered to by any student who wanted to attend the event and Clare followed these rules, which stated that all girls’ dresses should be finger-length. However, when she arrived at the venue, one of the organizers thought otherwise and stopped her. Clare showed her that her dress was of finger length and she let her in.
Clare narrates that when she got to the ballroom, she got surprised and laughed at the fact that the organizer had tried stopping her yet there were those who had way shorter dresses than hers. She looked for her friends and told them of what had happened and it came as a surprise to them because they had been attending prom with dresses which were tinier but had never encountered such incidents.
As they were still talking, some dads who were on the balcony above the dance floor started ogling them, and it was gross.
After a few moments, the same woman who had stopped her earlier came up to her and asked her to step outside. Clare says that according to the woman, the men had some complaints about her dressing and how she moved her body.
It was embarrassing, and Clare again showed the woman that her dress was of finger length just as the rules required. What also surprised her was that the man had complained about her dancing yet all that she had just been standing with her friends. She tried telling this to the organizer, but she did not want to hear anything. Despite all the explanation and how much Clare made attempts to explain herself to the organizer, the woman still insisted on her and her friends stepping out, and so they had no choice.
The organizer told them that they would get their refund for the tickets back. However, Clare says that it is only her who has received her ticket money back, but all her other friends have not.
The 17-year old was so pissed off, and she decided to tell the whole world of the kind of treatment she got. She feels that the organizer treated her and her friends unfairly, and that it was not her fault that the men thought of her lustfully.
“I was told that the way I dressed and moved my body was causing men to think inappropriately about me, implying that it is my responsibility to control other people’s thoughts and drives.” The furious teen posted on the blog.
Clare’s post got too many people. They thought how the organizer treated Clare was not right, and they indeed said it on the Facebook page of Richmond Home-school Prom; and they did not do it politely, which forced the administrators to close the page.
