Starbucks Spots Something Wrong, Writes Message On Cup That Goes Viral
A team of baristas at a Starbucks in Corpus Christi, Texas has been praised for their efforts to help a teenage customer who appeared to be in need of assistance. According to the customer’s mother, Brandy Selim Roberson, the baristas noticed a man speaking to her daughter, who was alone at the Starbucks, and seemed distressed.
In response, they handed the teenager an “extra hot chocolate someone forgot to pick up,” which contained a message written on the cup that asked, “Are you OK? Do you want us to intervene?” and instructed the customer to remove the cup’s lid if she needed help.
Roberson shared the story on her Facebook page, which has since been made private. However, the popular Instagram account Tank’s Good News reshared the post, where it has received almost 1 million likes. In her post, Roberson explained that her daughter did not need assistance, but was touched by the baristas’ gesture and made sure to let them know she was okay. Roberson has not commented on the incident but told Today that she was “incredibly grateful” for the Starbucks staff. “As a mom, that is my worst fear, that something would happen to my child and nobody would be there to help,” she said.
The incident has received widespread praise on social media, with thousands of users expressing their admiration for the Starbucks staff. “It’s so comforting to know there are good people out there,” one user wrote. “As a mom of a 22-year-old daughter that lives across the country, I am so happy to hear there are people like this looking out for others!” another added. Starbucks has not commented on the incident.
