Teen saves kidnapped woman with his quick thinking

In a society where people often get absorbed in their phones, especially in public places, a 17-year-old teenager from Montreal, Canada named Malyk Bonnet proved that being vigilant and attentive to one’s surroundings can make a difference in saving lives.

One day, while Malyk was near a bus stop, he noticed a man aggressively pushing a woman. The man was shouting at her and Malyk could sense that something was wrong. Concerned for the woman’s safety, he decided to keep an eye on the situation. The couple then approached Malyk, asking him for money to catch a bus. Sensing an opportunity to help, he agreed and accompanied them to a local convenience store to get the money.

During a brief moment when Malyk managed to get the woman alone, she confided in him that she needed help to escape from her ex-boyfriend who was holding her against her will. Malyk realized he needed to come up with a plan to rescue her.

He observed that the ex-boyfriend’s aggression escalated when they were not in public. Malyk, therefore, decided to stick with them, playing the role of a friendly, helpful person. He maintained the facade, looking for the right moment to act.

Malyk’s strategy involved keeping the duo in public spaces where there were more people around. He even got on the bus with them. He told CBC News, “My plan was to keep them in a public place, where there’s a lot of people. I decided to make myself friendly with the man, so he would trust me. So I played my game.”

The golden opportunity presented itself when Malyk offered to buy them food at Tim Hortons. Inside the restaurant, he quickly excused himself to the restroom and called the police. The authorities arrived promptly and apprehended the kidnapper, ending the woman’s ordeal.

Malyk’s heroic intervention not only saved the woman’s life but also led to the capture of the kidnapper. For his valorous act, the police recognized him by raising $250 as a token of gratitude.

Malyk’s actions also received a plethora of commendations online, with comments such as “You did good and you have good reasons to be proud of yourself… You are a true hero!” and “A real thoughtful Hero. He actually followed and planned a strategy! Special Forces material!”

Malyk’s intervention is a powerful reminder of the importance of being alert and attentive to what is happening around us, even in an age when it’s common for people to be engrossed in their phones. Through his quick thinking and brave actions, Malyk Bonnet turned an ordinary day into a life-saving mission.
