Thandiwe Newton Reportedly In Rehab After Quitting ‘Magic Mike 3’

Channing Tatum’s “Magic Mike 3” is currently in production. Tatum’s long-awaited sequel just experienced a casting change when Newton decided to leave the movie.

Warner Bros. has released an official statement regarding the incident stating that her dropping out of the film was due to “family reasons.” Her leaving, according to the sources, was the outcome of a falling out with Tatum. Now this and her divorce from her husband of 24 years, Newton is now apparently going to rehab. Thandiwe and her husband have three children together.

Sources say that during her time on the set of Magic Mike’s Last Dance, Newton was already showing unusual behavior. Crew members have expressed their concern for her that’s why her agent arrived on set to ease the situation. However, Newton decided to drop from the project and go back to the U.S. instead where she’s allegedly looking to get treatment. According to some sources, her separation from her husband, Ol Parker, and other personal issues greatly affected her work on the upcoming film.

The source said, “Thandiwe had been acting strange on set, she has been very highly strung. Her apparent breakdown caused so much disruption, it became clear she couldn’t play the role.” Page Six also reported that the actress is currently battling personal and family problems. She even tried bringing pets with her to help.

The source said: “There is a lot going on in her personal life, she and her husband have separated. She seemed so stressed, she even brought her two pet rabbits to her hotel for emotional support.”

Thandiwe is known to those around her to be the kind of person who makes impulsive decisions. The source explained, “She fired her UK agent of three decades, and then her US agent Gaby Morgerman flew in from Los Angeles to try to calm things down. Thandiwe’s team wants her to go to rehab for mental health support. She was supposed to leave immediately for a facility, they tried for a Malibu rehab, but they couldn’t take her. Arrangements are now being made to go to a facility in Arizona if she agrees to go.”

Rumors say that she had an argument on set which led to her exit from the Magic Mike movie. It was said that the altercation have been about Will Smith’s Oscar’s slap.

Allegedly, she and Channing Tatum “fell out” over the situation, with the latter disappearing from the set after a particularly “tense” exchange. Newton’s spokesperson later denied these claims but explained that the actress viewed the report as “completely inaccurate.”

Following her departure from the movie set, her role was quickly filled by Salma Hayek. The film’s plot, as well the other details on what Hayek’s role will be, are still being kept private at this time. There are still many unresolved concerns around the project, including whether or not fans should look forward to the return of Matthew McConaughey.
