TikTok Star Dies After Making A Fatal Mistake on First Solo Skydive
What was supposed to be a fun skydive adventure ended in tragedy for a young woman. She was a Canadian beauty queen and a TikTok influencer with more than 100,000 followers on the social media platform. Her passing saddened not only her family and friends but also her fans and followers.
According to the report, this was her first time trying skydiving. However, she made a grave mistake that took her life.
Reports say that 21-year-old Tanya Pardazi apparently had her parachute open too late during her descent on August 27th during her skydive adventure. It was her first solo dive.
In a statement released by Skydive Toronto in Innisfil, Ontario, they stated that Pardazi “released a quickly-rotating main parachute at a low altitude without the time or altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate.”
Right after the incident, Pardazi was immediately taken to a hospital but sadly, she was pronounced dead…
In her TikTok post on August 22, she excitedly talked about skydiving. Tanya Pardazi was a philosophy student at the University of Toronto. Aside from being a TikTok influencer, she had also previously participated in the Miss Canada beauty pageant, making it to the semifinal rounds.
Talking to Bradford Today, her longtime friend Melody Ozgoli shared, “I talked to her recently. I couldn’t believe it. I thought it was a joke. It has been a couple of days and I still can’t believe it. She was adventurous and always tried new exciting stuff. Skydiving was supposed to be another fun adventure for her.”
Kimia Sepanlou, another friend of Pardazi, remembers her as “one of the bravest girls.” Talking to CTV, Sepanlou said, “Whenever we saw her, we knew we were in for an adventure because she didn’t like letting herself, or the people closest to her, get bored. Everyone who met her thought the world of her.”
According to the skydive facility website, they require all of their students to complete a course in “all of the fundamentals required to successfully complete your first skydive” before they will be allowed to take their first jumps from 4,000 feet.
The facility also confirmed the death of one of its students in a Facebook statement but they did not identify Pardazi by name. The statement just said that a philosophy student had “released a quickly-rotating main parachute at a low altitude without the time or altitude required for the reserve parachute to inflate.”
The statement added: “The jumper was a welcomed recent addition to the skydiving community and will be missed amongst the student’s new friends and fellow jumpers of Skydive Toronto Inc. The team at Skydive Toronto Inc has been profoundly affected by this accident as they have refined their student training program for over 50 years.”
The University of Toronto’s cheerleading team also posted their condolences and honored Pardazi saying that she’s “one in a million” and would be “forever part of our team and in our hearts.”
Skydiving is a risky and dangerous sport. It is very important to have a thorough understanding of what you are putting yourself into before you even consider doing it. And going into it solo requires not only a lot of courage and drive to try it out, but also the presence of mind.
