Travis Barker Talks About His ‘Life-Threatening’ Hospitalization After A Scary Experience
Travis Barker recently opened up about his recent hospitalization after a life-threatening experience. Barker is the drummer for the rock band Blink-182 and the husband of celebrity influencer, Kourtney Kardashian. He recently hit the headlines when he was hospitalized in Los Angeles with pancreatitis.
You see, Barker recently had a colonoscopy to check for possible colon cancer. Then the drummer went to the hospital in debilitating pain. Now, health experts have weighed in on how likely that he developed pancreatitis after a colonoscopy.
When the Blink-182 drummer first went to a West Hills clinic because of cramping, he was sent to a hospital by ambulance because of the severity of his condition.
Travis took to Instagram to share an update. He assures his fans that he is “currently much better” after developing “life-threatening” pancreatitis.
In a post on social media, Barker shared that he’d had an endoscopy which included the removal of a polyp “in a very sensitive area, usually handled by specialists.” He explained, “I went in for an endoscopy Monday feeling great. But after dinner, I developed excruciating pain and have been hospitalized ever since.” That said removal damaged a pancreatic drainage tube. He said, “This resulted in severe life-threatening pancreatitis.”
His 16-year-old daughter, Alabama Barker, shared a photo on TikTok of her holding her dad’s hand as he lay on the gurney. She wrote: “Please say a prayer.”
In the picture, Barker is seen wearing all-black clothes and a white medical bracelet over his tattooed hand. Alabama put a heart emoji over the bracelet to hide her dad’s personal information. She deleted the post and instead, shared an Instagram Story with a black background and the words, “Please send your prayers.”
His recent social media activity was a bit grim. Before being rushed to the hospital, he posted the message “God help me” on his social media accounts. He didn’t clarify whether or not it was about his health. In March, Machine Gun Kelly released a song with the same name on it, with Barker listed as the producer.
Later on, he updated his fans about his condition, saying: “I am so very very grateful that with intensive treatment, I am currently much better.”
His fans were relieved to receive an update from him.
Kourtney Kardashian also gave an update on Instagram. She wrote: “Oh what a scary and emotional week it has been. Our health is everything and sometimes we take for granted how quickly it can change. Travis and I went in for a routine endoscopy together and he ended up with severe, life-threatening pancreatitis.”
Kourtney also shared that she is “so grateful to God for healing my husband” as well as the team at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles “for taking such wonderful care” of Travis. She later wrote: “It’s crazy how sometimes words could never truly express the gratitude or feelings I have inside of me.”
Barker’s ex-wife, Shanna Moakler, also shared an update regarding his condition. In a statement, she said, “He is in great hands and surrounded by loving support and the best medical teams available and his beautiful wife Kourtney. Travis has beat the odds numerous times and I know with his support system he will do it again.”
Travis Barker survived a 2008 South Carolina plane crash that killed four people.
