You Too Will Fall In Love With This Little Girl’s School Picture Day Outfit

Not every kid is excited for school picture day. Back in the day, only the parents could decide on what their children would do for this event. But these days, kids are growing up in a totally different way. Self-expression is currently the norm.

This beautiful girl had the brilliant idea to use her outfit for photo day as a platform to show her true personality. Three-year-old Kayileann Steinbach from Rocklin, California is a huge fan of comic books and superheroes. As a result, she decided to wear her favorite costume for school photos.

She wanted to be Supergirl!

Her dad, Austin, couldn’t resist when Kaylieann begged to wear the outfit for the important occasion. In an interview with PEOPLE, he said that he “had a normal school day outfit picked out for her.” But when she had this special request, she simply couldn’t say “no” to her.

Austin adds, “On picture day at school she was given the choice of outfits, none of which were Supergirl. She walked up, looked over each of her choices, turned and said ‘POOTERGIRL!’ and well… I couldn’t argue with that answer.”

Kaylieann’s mother might not be happy with this outfit choice, but her great dad said that she can go ahead and wear the costume and even promised her that he would “take the heat” in case mom gets mad.

Photos arrived as promised and were just as adorable as they had expected. Dad was so pleased with his daughter’s ‘prom style’ photo that he wanted to share it on Reddit.

What he did not expect though was for the post to go viral!

In her picture, it’s adorable how she’s clutching Superman as if she’s going to protect him instead of him protecting her.

Now, remember that Austin didn’t just share his daughters’ photo to show off but to send a positive message. There is something special about her. If you look at her picture more closely, you’ll notice that aside from her red cape, she’s also wearing a pair of hearing aids.

According to her dad, she was only 2 and a half years old when they were told that she was “75 percent deaf in both ears.” A speech therapist and an audiologist have been helping Kaylieann prepare for the challenges she may face in the future.

The dad admits that he may have inspired his daughter’s love of superhero fashion. Speaking with Scary Mommy, he said, “Since she before she could walk I may or may not have dressed her up in superhero clothes for as long as I could remember. Her mom has always loved it too! But I’m the resident nerd between us.”

This is not the first time though that she boasted about her Supergirl costume. A month before the school picture day, dad and Kaylieann attended the San Francisco Comic Con. And of course, the little girl was dressed up as Supergirl.

Talking to Babble, dad said, “[She’s] refused to take off her costume since (eventually it was replaced with a Spider-Man one so I could wash the Supergirl).”

There is no doubt that this Supergirl has inspired a lot of people, both kids and adults alike, to be true to themselves and to not be afraid to show their genuine personality. There should be no rules during school picture day. Kids must be allowed to be whoever they want to be during this special day.
