Woman Does An Easter Performance In The Park For Her Church Then Thousands Came To Join Her

The internet is a blessing. Now couple it with more advanced technology and social media, it allows people to do more amazing things. It has made our lives so much easier and more convenient. It is now possible to connect with people from all other countries. It helps us stay in touch with distant relatives. It also bridges businesses to partner with other companies from other parts of the world.

There are so many things that modern technology can do. But of course, with its pros, there are also cons to consider. The Internet can sometimes cause problems and misunderstandings.

Flash mobs are very popular and we see it all over social media. Some organize flash mobs to surprise their loved ones with a marriage proposal. While others have a different purpose, to do something good for the community. That is exactly what this flashmob did back in 2011.

The Second Baptist Church of Houston saw a video online of a group of people in Budapest putting an energetic performance for charity. This video inspired the large church to do the same. To make this happen, an event was organized in the Discovery Green in Houston.

In the video shared on the Second Baptist Church, Houston channel on YouTube, a single person walked out into the middle of the park. The edges of the field were surrounded by nearly 2,000 church members.

At the start of the video, a woman in the center of the field started dancing to a song that the church provided. The song was commissioned by Second Baptist Church for this event. It is called “Rise Up” and sung by Lauren James Camey and produced by Joshua Moore.

The dancer performed and gave her all during this solo performance that lasted for the next 40 seconds.

Then 2,000 other people joined in to perform. Everyone was running to their positions in the field. It took them over a month to learn the choreography. Thousands of men, women, and children joined in. The entire performance lasted for just around five minutes before everyone dispersed.

Towards the end of the video, you can see that there were pairs of new shoes left by the dancers in the field. They were collected and then donated to local charities, shelters, and religious missions throughout Houston. They posted the video on YouTube that now has over 2 million views.

The event was called “Dance Your Shoes Off.”

According to the caption of the video posted – “More than 2,000 people from Second Baptist Church, Houston, Texas, gathered at Discovery Green in the heart of Houston to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus. The purpose of Dance Your Shoes Off! was to proclaim the resurrection of Jesus Christ in a powerful and celebratory way. Most importantly, each participant left a new pair of shoes on the field for those in need. These shoes will be given to local mission agencies, including Star of Hope, individuals all across the world through our mission partners and mission trips.”

What a way to celebrate the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hopefully, these shoes was able to reach those who need it the most all across the globe through Second Baptist Church, Houston’s missions.
