Young Va. Father Vanished Before Christmas, Family Finds Trail of Blood from His Car to Woods

On December 21st, Jose Guerrero was reported missing after he didn’t return home from running an errand. His girlfriend, Sheila Perez, said that he had planned to return in just a few minutes but didn’t tell her where he was going. She described him as a loving and responsible father to their 10-month-old daughter, and said that it was completely out of character for him to disappear without telling her.

Two days later, his Hyundai was found abandoned in Woodbridge, Virginia with a trail of blood leading from the car to the nearby woods. Blood was also found in the back seat of the car. The Prince William County Police Department stated that they believe Guerrero may be in need of assistance and is missing under suspicious circumstances, and have classified him as endangered. They have been working nonstop on the case, conducting numerous searches and following up on multiple leads, but so far have been unable to locate him.

First Sgt. Jonathan Perok of the Prince William County Police Department told NBC News that they have not been getting the full cooperation they need from those connected to Guerrero. Perez has pleaded for anyone with information to come forward, saying “I shouldn’t be here looking for him. We should be at home.” She described the holidays as a difficult time for the family, with Guerrero’s mother saying “there was no Christmas for us. We were waiting for my son. His daughter spent her first Christmas without her dad. It’s not fair. Somebody needs to speak up.”

Guerrero is a Hispanic male with brown hair and brown eyes. He’s 5’8″ and weighs 109 lbs. He was last seen wearing a blue sweater and blue jeans with black shoes. If you have any information that could help locate him, the Prince William County Police Department is asking you to call them at 703-792-6500. The family and authorities are desperately searching for answers and hope that someone may have seen something that could help bring Guerrero home safely.
